Distinguished and Famous people from Glen Eira
Arthur Boyd and the Boyd family
The Boyd family’s home at Open Country in Murrumbeena became an important centre of artistic life. Arthur Boyd grew up within this creative family and later worked in a pottery venture in nearby Neerim Road. His father Merric and mother Doris were also artists, part of a family whose work extended across generations and media. Glen Eira’s collection preserves this substantial local artistic connection. Family life, pottery and painting developed together within the suburb, leaving a local legacy across several generations.
